Anyone having issues with their PNV?

Since Day 1 of being pregnant, I've been dealing with these horrid gas/intestinal issues. I'll get terrible gas cramping and on good days I'll be able to go #2 and be alright. Normally, I'm backed up a few days.

I never had issues like this with my last pregnancy except for the fact that I was so backed up at the end, it was painful.

I've noticed a trend, if I skip my PNV a day or two, I feel better. Everytime I take it, 20 minutes later I have those cramps. Blah.

Is anyone else having issues? I'm gonna ask my OB on Friday if there is anything else I could try. *I've tried both regular PN's and the gummy ones*

  • I had the same issues with the DHA supplement and my OB told me to stop taking it since it was causing me so many problems. Are you taking it after eating? Either way, talk to your OB about it.

  • I haven't had that with PNV, I had that with regular multivitamins... plus severe nausea. I started taking the PNVs well before I got pregnant because they're the only ones that don't make me like that.

Have you tried the prescription PNVs? maybe there's one with less of some things that your OB could prescribe you that would make it easier.

  • I had that at first with my OTC PNVs, then I got some RX ones, and haven't had it since.  My doctor told me it was all of the extra iron and that the RX ones have a small amount of stool softener in them to help even it out.  Plus, with my insurance plan, the RX ones are actually about 1/2 the price of the OTC ones.  Good luck!
  • I HATE Hate hate taking my PNVs and can pretty much count on feeling miserable when I do.  I have told my husband I will only take them every other day or we cut them in half.

I asked my OB and she said any vitamin at this point is okay as long as I keep taking my DHA.

I'm still using the pre-natals only because the DHA comes with them and the prescription ends up being cheaper than buying both vitamins and DHA over the counter.

It is pretty ridiculous when that I am willing to suffer so much to save a few bucks - I think this may be my last box.
