  • No one told me how hairy my belly would become, or that I would always have a runny nose!

This! I make sure I always have tissues nearby. I sneeze constantly, too.

  • jarobinson21, bahaha me too. I have hair growing around my belly. Good thing its blonde. To add, nobody told me that colostrum would appear this early in pregnancy. I often find remnants of dried milk on my nipples.
  • I wish I would have been warned about the excruciating charlie horses in the middle of the night.

  • Things I learned with my first pregnancy that I wish I would have known:

that very quickly you can't see your hoo-ha down there and so shaving becomes VERY difficult

how quickly you gain weight (once you start gaining)

how all the things like bedding, room details, etc would be far from important once the baby actually arrives

you don't need as much as you "think" you need in terms of "stuff" and clothes--but you need WAY more diapers LOL

and once the baby arrived, there's a ton, but the one thing that no one told me was how sensitive the nipples are when you first start breastfeeding---toe curling pain for like 2 wks.

  • Yes to all this. The hair on the belly really surprised me.

  • No one told me that I was going to need to wear panty liners every day because of all the excess discharge from my vag. YUCK!

  • I never really understood people being in your personal space when touching your bump because for some reason I didn't think it would feel like a normal belly anymore making it "ok". I now realize that my stomach still feels like my stomach making it really weird for people to rub me randomly.

For pregnancy there isn't much that surprised me the first time around, after birth though.....   The contractions that happen when you nursed accompanied with the general pain while nursing until your nips get used to it is pretty much toe curling pain as PP said.  Also how much pain the muffin would be in afterwards was a little surprising, just remember ice packs  I used Lansinoh boob pads, they were the only thing that worked for me.  In a post from awhile ago, remember if you O during sex without coverings on the girls you may just drowned your SO/DH   It was a long time before I could even sleep without a bra and pads on.
