q's about p90x a repost

Hey everyone I'm looking into getting p90x for xmas. I already workout about 1 hour everyday on the elliptical.

Couple q's for you: what equipment do I need to use the system? I know someone wrote about a pull up bar once? Is that absolutely necessary? I don't really have a spot in my house to put it where there is a tv? Are there any modifications to the workout that I can use during that segment?

  • You need a couple sets of dumbbells and the pull up bar is good but I use cables/bands instead (the kind that attach to a door).

  • Congrats on starting the program. I'm in week 5 of the lean and I feel wonderful!! In terms of equipment I recommend a good yoga mat. Lots of downward dog and you don't need to be slipping. Otherwise weights for your level (eg 5-20 or more lbs) and instead of the pullup bar use bands. a yoga block helps if you're not too flexible yet, otherwise that's all you need. Right now I'm using bands but will invest the 70 bucks for the bar but that's just a personal preference. Good luck!
  • I loved P90x. Got me into the best shape of my life before pregnancy.  Looking forward to starting it again, after I finish the Insanity program (which also rocks!)


    Hand weights are a must.  Tony also does tons of pull ups, so you either need the bar or need cables to modify with.  A yoga mat is necessary for the yoga dvd.  Optional- heart rate monitor.
