Caleb just jumped out of his crib

More like fell. He didn't hurt himself, but obviously we have to transition to a toddler bed. We don't have a video monitor, so I can't really see what he's doing in there. I know he was getting good at climbing, I feel so bad. Sad

Anyway, my question is about converting our crib. We have a drop-side crib that can be converted to a day bed or a toddler bed with rail. I do not have the rail, but I could buy one. DH seems to think it would be fine as a day bed. I'm afraid Caleb will roll out, and its not nearly as low to the ground as a toddler bed would be. WDYT?

I'm so not ready for this transition! I hope it will go easier than I expect.

  • Caleb the stunt double.  LOL.  I am not ready for the transition either.  I vote for side rail.  If you don't have one you can go buy a general one that fits most beds (or I think you can).  GL

  • You could put the mattress on the floor.  We have Faelen in a floor bed, a very firm queen mattress on the floor in his room, and have baby-proofed the entire room.
  • I def say rails.  Our convertible crib came with the rail for the toddler bed.
