Alabama Babies

This is probably a dumb question...

but when can I give Aubrey peanut butter?

I meant to ask that at her well baby checkup a couple of weeks ago and completely forgot...didn't think much more about it until I had a PBJ today.  We don't have any family history of allergies, and I know that you are supposed to give them it a few days in a row since it can take a few days for an allergy appears (or at least that's according to the ladies on the 12-24 month boards...I don't know if that is standard or not).

  • You are suppose to wait til they are two years of age to give them peanut butter

  • The guideline is two years but......... I thought itwas one year and I gave Avery pb on toast. She didn't die. I kept the exposure limited until she was ~ 18 months. Now she has it almost daily and has been for a while. I think if Aubrey is not prone to being allergic to stuff and you have no history of allergies you're probably safe.

  • I also thought the age was one year.  I think it's partly due to allergies and partly to it being thick/choking hazard.  I waited until after J was a year, but he doesn't get it very often.  To be honest, it's because I never think of feeding it to him ;)

I believe anything can be a choking hazard, though, if you really think about it.  Just use the common sense the Good Lord gave you :)
