a CD dilemma

In the middle of last night, I realized my nipple soreness/burning is most likely due to yeast as I am currently taking antibiotics. I immediately used gentian violet.

Here is my dilemma. J. shows no signs of thrush, but I treated him as well. And he shows no sign of any diaper rash. I did give him some diaper free time, and will probably continue to do that a couple times a day. Theoretically, though, there could be yeast in his CDs, especially since sometimes burp cloths get washed with the CDs.

So would you disinfect your CDs? If so, would you do that now and after you are sure the nipple yeast infection is gone?

And, how would you disinfect? I rarely use bleach on anything, but would almost rather do that than worry that there might still be yeast. Our diaper stash includes BG pockets, PFs, some fitteds, and thirsties covers.

Thanks!

Re: a CD dilemma

  • I wouldn't do anything unless LO starts showing some symptoms. I had nipple thrush and DS had oral thrush for a while. He never got diaper yeast. My doctor said it is very unlikely for a baby with thrush to transfer that to his or her nether regions.

If LO does get diaper yeast you will have to ditch the CD's until it is cleared up and bleach them. You could always do that as a preventative measure.
