Crafty people, come on in...

I would like to give our parents a gift from J. this Christmas. (Oh, and sorry for not respecting the turkey, but if I don't think about this now, it won't get done!)

I saw this and thought I *might* be able to do that with a 3 month old.

So, what colors would you use for the handprints of a 3 month old boy? Does it make a difference that it's for a Christmas gift?

And, do you think it would be possible to get the handprints on an ornament? If I just do the handprints on paper, any ideas on how to make it look slightly fancier?

Thanks!

  • You could paint his hands up and wrap them around a Christmas ornament.

I did this last year, but with my almost 2 year old. Everyone loved it.
I bought a bunch of ornaments in blue. I painted ds fingers and part of hand where the fingers attach in white paint, had him print his hand on the ornament. Let dry, then you go in and paint hats, scarves, faces, and buttons on the fingers so they look like snowmen.  I also painted "Tyler 2009" on the blank side.

I'm thinking to do something similar this year but making the fingers reindeer or something- one hand on each side of the ornament.

  • My only tip is to have another person there to help you! C and I made DH a mug for fathers day with her hand and foot print on them at the paint your own pottery place and it was HARD to get her handprint on/not super smudged/etc. She was like 5 months old when I was trying this.
