Picking a name

So when my husband and I found out we were having a boy we started talking names right away. We came up with a list of names and weren't shy about telling everyone the names we were considering.

Sadly though I had several family members tell me how much they hated some of my favs. So we just told everyone that we were going to decide on our own and that they would find out when he is born.

My mom actually conned me into to telling her, but she is the only one that knows. It's driving me crazy. I want to tell EVERYONE! How do I wait when I'm so excited ??? Did anyone else try this? Did you actually make it?

I have decided to tell my dad when we visit them for Thanksgiving. He has colon cancer and doesn't think he will make it to meet his grandson.

It does not matter what anyone else thinks of your name as long as you and DH like it.  They can such it up and deal with it.  My MIL was not real crazy about the name Parker but she just told me the other day about how much she loves his name and that it had to grow on her.  I am sorry to hear about your dad.  Make this time special for him.

I'm sorry to hear about your Dad but you should most definitely tell him. You should also tell us, we will keep it a secret. I have 2 nephews with absolutely crazy names but we all like the names now.

We have shared our names both times because honestly, it is not going to hurt my feelings, or change my mind.  It doesn't matter WHAT names you pick, there will always be at least one person who does not like it.  Oh well, they had or will have their chance to name their children.

My MIL hated every name we picked out for all our kids..i didnt care! So on the 3rd baby boy we told everyone but her (she is negative about EVERYTHING)

I say if you are excited tell who you want and if someone doesnt like it let them know you dont like their negative thoughts...especially when it comes to your child...i bet they wont tell you again they dont like it

P.S. you can be blunt..your pregnant!!! Blame it on the hormones! lol

So sorry to hear about your father.  I think you should definitely tell him.  As far as everyone else goes, they can suck it up.  It's not their baby!  We hated my nephew's name (and SO GLAD they had a boy, as the girl name they picked was even worse) but now we love it and can't imagine him being called anything else.

We didn't tell a single soul until she was born what her name was.  It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be...it was nice having a secret amongst me and DH.  I gave out her initials though and it was fun seeing what everyone guessed.  I mainly did it because I just didn't want to hear what everyone had to say. 

We are going to do that next time around as well and we are also going to keep the sex a secret (like me and DH will find out the sex but we won't tell anyone else).

 Well seeing as I think I can trust that you all will keep my secret my LO's future name will be.....Jude Atticus!

We wanted to use my dad's name but couldn't settle on anything that fit with Brett. I had seen the name Atticus and fell in love, turns out it means ~to be father like, how perfect! 

Our LO actually picked the name Jude for himself. I have been playing him music since about week 12. He absolutly goes crazy over the song Hey Jude! I have tried switching the song half way through and he just kicks one big kick and then stops all together.

What can I say? I guess the love of the Beatles runs in the family!

I feel better now!

I LOVE it! Especially that your LO kicks when you play Hey Jude. And I think Atticus is a vastly underrated, classic name.
