Success after IF

How do I know if it is a yeast related diaper rash?

I tried doing some google searches to look for pictures.... I found that to be as unhelpful as it was unpleasant. We have been fighting this darn diaper rash for over a month now. I have tried different creams, different diapers, airing her out, frequent changes, and yet it doesn't go away. It has even spread a bit. Ugh. It isn't bleeding or anything, but it is very red and clearly persistent. The pedi saw it at her 4 month and didn't seem at all concerned, but I think it has gotten worse since then. How do I know if this is a yeast related rash that needs an Rx? Or just sensitive skin? Is it time to call the pedi again?

  • Preston got a nasty one that had yeast and they told me to put Lotrium (athlete's foot cream) on his bottom for a few days. It worked like a charm!

  • When dd had a yeast infection, the rash looked totally different than just a normal red diaper rash.  The pics that I googled online looked exactly like what she had.  My pedi gave her a prescription for Nystatin and it was gone fast.

  • Jone had one..it was a bumpy diaper rash...and some of his skin ended up bubbling up.  eww.  The doc gave us a prescription for nystatin but also said that we could use lotrimin cream (not the foot one, the vaginal one) instead if we wanted.
  • Cal had a yeast rash that looked like little whiteheads (not a ton of them, but that was the one thing that stood out as being different from other diaper rashes).  Our pedi recommended using Lotrimin cream every other diaper change, and regular diaper rash cream in between.

    LO #1 - 1 unmedicated/self-monitored IUI w/ donor sperm.
    LO #2 - 1 m/c, 2 BFNs, 4th IUI worked (unmedicated/self-monitored with new donor sperm).

  • Their skin gets bumpy and can split open and bleed in places. We were battling the same yeast rash for almost 2 months. We did try the lotramin (athletes foot cream) covered with vaseline and that would help but it didn't seem to "kill" the infection. I finally called the pedi and got a very expensive Rx called Vusion. We are on our last day of it (you use it for a week) and I think that the infection is finally gone for good. It cleared him up in about 2-3 days.

  • Sarah's rash was bright red and felt leathery...lotramin worked for her
  • Hmm...it isn't bumpy. Just red and very slightly raised. Hmm... Would there be any harm in trying lotrimin if it isn't yeast after all? I am just not sure what else to try!

I'd go for it...what's it going to hurt?  and our doc also told us to use it just every other change, with regular diaper cream in between...

Using the Lotrimin won't hurt. I have used it on regular rashes as well and it is fine.
