First they said I had 5k to spend on testing and treatment and anything that went with it, meds and such. Go to first appt and financial lady tells me they only pay for testing and wouldn't even cover the U/S I didn't even plan on doing that day doc just wanted to take a look a ute since he read it was large and had fibroids and i was having irregular bleeding. I said why can't it go under reg medical since I am having irregular bleeding and wasn't going to get it for infertility problems and they said well if it was at your Gyn office they would but now your dealing with an RE. Now I find out no treatment covered at all and only two test which is the hsg and fsh but won't cove AMH. WTH, I am about to go postal on them. So sad you have to put off trying to have a child because of money but yet I pay taxes on insurance for kids who's parents don't work and keep having more and more babies they can't afford and we pick up the bills, but they can pay for ciggerettes and booz. Sorry if i offended anyone. The last part of this comes from a friend of mine who has 5 kids on medicaid free school lunches and books, housing paid for and her parents are well set so they have the nicest clothes but receives total government funding and she gets to be a stay at home mom. Her new baby is 1 week old. Ugh sorry for the vent.

Yup, offended. Is there abuse of the system, yes. But it also does tremendous good for children who would otherwise life impoverished and without adequate care. But yet you begrudge them their health insurance.
Guess what? Life will never be exactly fair, but you were born with two arms, two legs, likely reasonably healthy in one of the richest countries in the world, and yet you complain. Ever consider whether your righteous attitude contributes to your bad karma?
Just to clarify another post...There is a difference between government run healthcare i.e. health insurance and the government run medicaid program. There are plenty of free health clinics and medicaid programs that cover expenses for children who would otherwise not have healthcare. Now we are having to pay insurance for the parents of those children who probably have two good "arms and legs" but don't work and aren't motivated to get their own health insurance.
Infertility is the worst, most agonizing process I personally have ever been through. This board has allowed me to post thoughts and feelings as they relate to situations, freely and without judgment. I think we should all be allowed to vent : )
Tumble... you will find a way. We did. It's been tough but we did. Just keep believing.

This exactly.
Tumble, hang in there. I totally understand your frustration. It's a nightmare to pay so much for your insurance only to find it's not there for you when you need it, and then to be given the runaround you've obviously been given is just horrible. I hope you're able to figure this one out and move forward. I'm sending good luck vibes to you that you're able to get it all figured out positively for you.
It sounds like your frustration is pretty valid. I see alot of misuse of the medicaid program- people who CAN and SHOULD work, but instead allow the government to pay for healthcare. We all suffer because of this.
Hope this is only a temporary stumbling block for you!

I was pretty sure I would offend sombody and I hate that but I was just saying how I feel. i just see so much abuse of all the systems on a daily basis some of which are people who are my friends. I want kids to be healthy but I also want my medicine and treatment to be paid for or at least a portion of it for the $600 a month I pay to have it. Heard a girl the other day who has three kids and said "yep were pregnant again i was only trying for a month and boom, here I go again" I said are you and Jason getting married soon? her response was" hell no I would loose all my benefits why not get them for free, if we get married I would have to report his income" She said I only work two days a week to get a break from my kids and they pay my medical, school lunches and $500 dollars a month for food" She was also smoking as she told me this.....Thats when all this came up. I love kids, I am not mean spirited, I would help anyone with all I have. Again sorry if I came across like everyone abuses it.
Yes insurance sucks in the US. I agree with everything you said because I see it everyday at work at a children's hospital. I have coverage for infertility but have not used it yet so who knows. I will be going out of the country for IVF if needed. you may consider this as well.
Tumble, you have every right to vent, but I was offended and that is why I posted. I work almost entirely with impoverished pregnant women and children and I see the system work well, as well as seeing the abuse.
In terms of insurance/gov sucking, I am right there with you. My wife and I get taxed 160 a month for our health insurance because our marriage is not federally recognized. And I need to pay for 6 cycles of inseminations out of pocket before I can get coverage, at @1000 a month since I would have to have sex with a man for a year to get the diagnosis of infertility which would trigger the insurance coverage. It sucks, but begrudging ladies who have access to sperm and insurance coverage certainly won't improve my own situation.
Re: I hate insurance companys, they lie so much
I'm so sorry. hang in there.
Hugs!

Thanks Boston I guess because I think some people abuse the system maybe this is why I can't have a child? WOW thats very hurtful.
