So DH and I have to start adding cereal to our LOs bottles. He is
downing 5-6 oz at a time and then becoming hungry shortly after. I EP
and we will be adding the cereal to breast milk. So my question is - how long can the milk sit out after it has the cereal mixed in? We usually let the breast milk sit at room temp for up to 6 hours then toss it if he doesn't have it drank. Can it still sit out that long if it has cereal mixed with it or does it have to be tossed right away if he doesn't finish it?
You should never actually add it to a bottle...it can lead to overeating and aspiration of rice into babies lungs since they are usually fed in a semi upright position. As long as baby can hold his head up make it super thin and feed it to him. And, no, it can't sit out for 6 hours with rice in it like just plain breast milk.
I agree with PPs, you should not be putting cereal in your LO's bottle. It's a choking hazard and you're filling him up on empty calories. Here is a link with more information on why cereal in bottles is a bad idea: https://kellymom.com/nutrition/solids/solids-sleep.html

This is really not a great idea. You should consult your pedi and check out Kellymom.
Why would you want to fill your baby up with empty calories? If he's really hungry, then feed him real food appropriate for a 1 month old - either formula or BM. If he's looking for comfort, try a pacifier.

What's his total intake? And are you sure he is hungry and not just wanting to suck? A bottle fed baby (whether FF or BF) can overeat.
It's never a good idea to add cereal to a bottle, especially a BM bottle as it doesn't behave the way formula does (thicken the same).
Also, if this is a recent behavior, he may just be having a growth spurt.

Those are big bottles! DD takes between 3-4 ounces in a bottle when she gets them.
Have you tried a paci instead of offering another bottle?
