Yet another Jogging stroller question.... :) 6month old

Hi ladies...

So is it safe to say the BOB is the way to go??? I have a 6 month old...and I am ready to hopefully find a stoller to go running with her! :) She weighs approx 16.5lbs and I want something safe for her most importantly but something we can use as she continues to go of course.....

So first of all at 6 months what stroller is the best option?? Do I have to use a carrier still or are there padding systems? She can sit unsupported...

I am a 10k runner...and I hope to start 1/2 marathon training too....any advice would be great! thanks!

  • BOB is the way to go. I have the Revolution and both my daughter and I love it. It's easy to push, it's comfy for her, and it's also versatile -- so it works great for running but you can also use a swivel wheel, which makes it great for trips to the zoo or the park. It is our go-to stroller for sure.

At her age, you won't need the infant adapter. BOB recommends the adapter until about 6 months, and it was at that time that I took the adapter off and just used the stroller. You will want to handlebar console for sure.

I actually own a store that sells BOB strollers, and I was talking to the rep recently about the debate between the Ironman stroller and the Revolution. A lot of people want the IM because it's lighter, but I like the versatility of the Revo. The rep told me some ultra runner won a race using the Revolution!

  • Love my Revolution too!  Both DH and I hate the fixed wheel for running, so we didn't like the Ironman

I kept DS in his carseat until he was about 9 or 10 months.  He just liked it better in there than in the BOB's seat, but it definitely wasn't necessary.

I love the training schedules at coolrunning.com.  I've used those for both half and full marathons.  The half is my favorite distance - just long enough to feel badass without the soul crushing bonk at 20 miles lol

    Good luck!

  • I am getting the Joovy Zoom instead of the BOB--it's ranked much better on Consumer Reports (and is more affordable).

I know a lot of people happy with their BOB though, so good luck deciding!

  • I trained for a half-marathon (my first!) and I have a Bob Revolution that I love.  I would take my DS with my running twice a week , the other days I left him with my DH or went to the gym and ran on the treadmill.  I have been using it him since he was born and stopped using the infant adapter at about 7-8 mos but probably could have stopped sooner.  The Bob reclines fairly well so even if they can sit up that well on their own you could lay them back.  I ran with a group of about 6 other Mamas over the summer and myself and one other mom were the only ones who had joggers with a swivel wheel on the front, the other ladies with Bob Ironmans or other brand joggers definnitely seemed to struggle on runs that had more turns and whatnot.  They also all commented that they would have preferred to have a jogger with a swivel wheel.  So I would say if you can swing it, definitely get the Revolution over the Ironman.

  • Another BOB fan here.  I have used the BOB revolution with Addy (no car seat) since 6 months.  She was way less then 16lbs then (she is only 19 lbs at 14 months!) and is just fine.  You can lock the shocks to make it stiffer for a more stable ride for LO

  • i tested the BOB and the baby jogger summit. They both 'feel' the same when pushing so I looked at other things. Price is the same. I was checking out the seat for the baby and the baby jogger has better cushioning for the LO, more plush (the BOB felt like cardboard). The summit seat is taller and narrower where as the BOB is shorter and wider. So the summit can accommodate 'taller' kids (my hubby is 6'3 so we don't know how fast our LO will grow). The summit has a hand brake on the handle bar.....and the handle bar is about an inch taller (for my DH).... And the best part: the summit is SO MUCH EASIER TO FOLD :) haha

I'm pretty sure we are going with the summit. But the BOB is great too
