2nd Trimester

Marcy248

Where are you an attorney?  I would give my left arm for your leave.  Do you work for a large, small, or medium firm?  This is my second child, and my leave is still miserable.  Our firm is very small, so I will take what I can get - but a girl can dream.

I work at a large firm in Michigan.  I feel pretty lucky to be able to take this amount of time.  Would you ever consider moving to the Midwest?  The cost of living here is nice and low!

DH and I are both attorneys.  The only problem is we are barred in Louisiana.  Texas will recognize our law license in two years (as a result of an agreement between Texas and Louisiana to honor LA law lincenses after five years of practicing so long as the attorney obtained a certain MPRE score). However, we would have to take the bar to practice in any other states.

I think Michigan has a rule that if you practice in another jurisdiction for 3 of the 5 preceeding years that you can be admitted without sitting for the examination (regardless of the jurisdiction you were practicing in).  My husband is also an attorney and I understand not wanting to sit for another exam.

That is very interesting.  I don't think we would ever leave New Orleans, but it is always nice to our options.
