Toddlers: 24 Months+

what's a good present from the binky fairy?

I've started talking up giving up the binky and giving them to all the babies when DD turns 2 (in 6ish weeks) and is a "big girl" but she's excited about it now too and keeps talking about giving them to the babies, etc.  So, I'm thinking maybe we will try it a little sooner.  I'm trying to decide what a good present would be - any suggestions??  She just got a new Dora doll a few weeks ago that would have been perfect . ..  but I need something else.

  • I don't have personal experience with it, but my friend took her LO to Target and let her choose a toy. Then they "paid" for it with the binky at the cash register (obviously the mom really paid, too). I guess it worked really well.

  • my cousin did Build a Bear.  They put one of the binkies in the animal they made and sent the rest of the binkies away.

  • Does she typically hang out w/ the binky all day or is it just for naps/bedtime?

If it's just for sleeping then I would get her something that she can sleep with- either an animal, or you could make it a more "mature" gift like a new blanket or pillow w/ matching sheets, etc.  When we moved DD into the toddler bed I got her all new bedding and we made a production out of making her new bed and I think that really helped w/ the transition.

    Well hello stranger!

Its mostly bedtime, but whenever she's upset, its the 1st thing she asks for.  Yeah. ... maybe new sheets or a blanket would be good.  Hmmmm - or maybe a pillow pet. . ..
