Everything looks great!
My 2nd temp spike was apparently my o-date, so that pushes my due date to June 18th, which means I am 6w5d. I'm excited about this because it manes my o-date was 3 days after BD, so more likely it could be a girl :-)
The h/b was 146 bpm. Baby is 1 cm long (!) and everything appears normal. My cerclage is still in tact and my cervix is long and 4 cm (best news yet)...
I got my blood drawn and she had a hard time. I could tell she was irritated b/c I was somewhat dehydrated. Oops. I need to drink more but honestly I just don't stop and drink when I"m chasing Andrew around so now I'll have to make a point.
We talked about what's to come. Starting at 16 weeks, I'll get weekly P17 progesterone shots. I can have someone do them at home (not happening) or just stop by the office. They said it only takes a second, so I can bring Andrew, so that is a huge logistical relief.
Starting around 13 (?) weeks I will need ultrasounds every other week to measure cervical length. Since I already have a TAC, unfortunately, the doctor questioned the benefit of these (they've already pulled out all the stops) - but we agreed it is beneficial because I can adjust my activity level and restrictions accordingly if my cervix is getting too short too fast. I also pointed out I thought my MFM wanted the data for his research, and I am more than happy to oblige if it will help some other mother in the future.
As far as activity level, while generally patients can carry on fairly normally with the TAC, he said we have to play it week by week. I asked about prenatal yoga (last time I started at 12 weeks when my back started to hurt) and he said we'd have to see I will be on travel restriction, possible pelvic rest, possible resting periods throughout the day (hopefully not bed rest...ugh) but again everything will be discussed appointment-to-appointment. We'll take it week by week.
In the mean time, he said for first tri I am treated as a "normal" patient with no restrictions, so I don't need to go back for 4 weeks, but once 2nd tri is here, all the appointments will start!
Thanks again for your thoughts and prayers.
Re: back from u/s! (long)
SOOOO glad everything looks good!!!!
It's great they will take it appt by appt and watch you very closely.
I have trouble drinking too. I carry ones of those bottles everywhere sales now. It helps to always have water with me.
TTC since 2007
6 IUIs, 3 IVFs, and 2 m/c :< PCOS, Blood Clotting Disorder & MFI
IVF #2 Aug 2011 is a BFN:<
IVF #3 March 2012 is a BFN
Not sure what to do now. Sad and lost.
Hoping everything goes well!!! When do you find out if it is a girl or boy, do you have a date set?
In regards to the shots. I thought it would be a big deal to give to myself and it ended up not being. Maybe give it a try with them there in the doc office and see how it goes to save yourself a daily trip. (Note: I don't know needle squimish you are but I can't watch anyone give me a shot but I can give my own.) DH tried to give it to me the first time and I took it out of his shaking hands and did it fine.
I think we are going to find out the sex this time ( well at least I want to!) so I think it'll be at like 19 weeks. I'm not sure exactly when that is :-)
Oh I'm a huge wimp. I can't even was my own eyebrows or take a band aid off
I only have to get them weekly, and the office is 5 minutes from here, so I think I might just go in to the office. Maybe if it's not that bad I'll ask them to teach DH
haha They said the shots really hurt though b/c the needle is really big and the fluid is thick. haha.
May I just say that I am just amazed at your selflessness in the middle of all of this? Most people would be annoyed at the extra inconvenience, and you're great with it, because it might help others. I heart your outlook, big time!
With J, I had biweekly U/S, too (I was a Lovenox pg, so they watched fluid like a hawk). It was actually pretty great. I got to see and know him so early in the process. I missed that with E.
Blessings to you, as you take this journey step by step.
Sounds like you have a great plan! I am so happy to hear that things are so perfect so far!
And it's exciting about your O date/possibility for a girl!
aw thanks! I truly wish another mom never has to go through what we went through, and we had it "easy" considering. I guess that's why.
BD=baby dance, or TTC
I ovulated 3 days after we last BD, so it's more likely to be a girl. The closer you BD to ovulation, the more likely it's a boy!
Yay for a good ultrasound, and doctor's appointment!
FWIW, we BD on my O-date (and the day before), and I had a girl with Paige. This time, we BD'ed, by my best estimate (wasn't charting), two days before and the day after I O'ed... and we'll find out in a few weeks what this one is!
YAY for great news all around! YAYAYAYAY!
Weren't you the one who used to drink ungodly amounts of water at work? I thought I remembered you saying that you went pee like every hour
lmao! Yeah I know it can go either way
Thanks! I did not know that...you provided me with my learn something new everyday!
haha yes! and I did when I pumped too. I *hate* drinking water. But when I was at work I'd just force myself to refill my 32 oz cup four times.
But now I'm chasing Andrew around and constantly on the go. That makes it a lot harder...
like maybe if we have a 3rd baby, it'll be free? :-)
I'm so glad you had a good appt.
Yay! So glad everything looked great!! I was wondering about you all day!
You know, you do have a nurse friend that could give you your shot if you needed. Surely you wouldn't have to pay a co-pay every time you go to the doctor for your shot, but if you do, I could save you some money. Plus, I love giving shots! hahah!
BFP #2 11/4/12 EDD 7/20/12 missed M/C 12/13/12 @8w5d D&C 12/21/12
DX 2/7/13 with an alloimmunity + for anti-paternal antibodies started Lovenox daily & BA
BFP 2/16/13 EDD 10/28/13
lmao!! I would take you up on that if you lived a little closer
If I'm in a pinch I'll keep it in mind
thanks!! I hope I don't have a copay each time! Eek!
I'm down with giving shots too! (Karla, what kind of sickos are we??) It is so much easier giving them to adults when I'm used to a wiggly kiddo. But yeah for a great appointment!
lol you guys are nuts
