Something Special

I'm new to this site and just got married, and getting ready to start TTC.

 

I am, however, brand new step mom to two little girls (6 and 5 yrs) and I wanted to share one of those moments that make your heart sing.

 

We were having dinner the other night and my oldest step daughter tells us: "You know... I think I know what I want to be when I grow up..."  and we reply "Yes?" (expecting the typical "Princess" or "Rock star" answer) and she says, "A step mom.... just like you!"

 

It's not always easy, but it's things like that that make it all good.

My stepdaughter (she's 6) said the cutest thing when her dad and I got married this summer.  Her mom is actively involved - we have everyother week custody.  She came up to me just before the wedding and said "Mommy - once you and daddy get married, you'll be my REAL mommy!" She said it with such enthusiasm - made me feel good - but just long enough to explain that I could NEVER replace her real mother, but I was glad she felt so close to me!
