Humidifiers in baby room

Anyone actaully use these down here? We registered for one and someone got it for us. DH had terrible asthma as a child (even spent time in a bubble at the hospital) and he thought it might be a good idea to have one. Granted he lived in Chicago where you actaully used your heater thus creating warmer/dryer air in the house. There are some other things from our registry that we didn't get so I am thinking of exchanging it. Did/do any of you find this useful in your LO's room?

Re: Humidifiers in baby room

  • Sure do =) A cool mist humidifier is what our doctor said is best. We use it just about every night. My younger gets sick often and this helps his breathing at night.

  • we also have a cool mist. when my son gets colds it makes it easier for him to breath.

  • I don't live down there anymore, but I'd say a cool mist humidifier is definitely a must-have...keep it.

  • interesting post & responses.

I always wondered how often people used them. I bought one when mario got a little sniffle at about 14 months or so and then never used it again. Its in my garage collecting dust. I always found nice long hot baths to ease the sniffles to be good. I suffer from asthma also, so we ALWAYS have the air on the cooler side of the thermostat. (plus we change the air filter (for allergy sufferes) about every 3 weeks vs 4-6 weeks)

My mil is always complaining of how cold it is in my house.

    HTH

    Good Luck

  • We have been debating on adding this to our registry... Our house is always very cold so I'm not sure if we would need the cool mist.
