2nd Trimester

Pretty sure I might be the only one...

I have a hard time understanding changing tables. I see them sideways in my head because it looks awkward and difficult to change a baby at that angle. Is it just me? Can someone explain how this works logistically? I *do* get that boys can squirt, so better aimed elsewhere, but doesnt it make everything else harder?

I hate this new mom feeling, I need a better book me thinks...

Re: Pretty sure I might be the only one...

  • I have never used a changing table, nor do i ever intend to.  I agree with the angle thing.  I would rather have them facing me.

  • Even when I change DD on the floor I face her to the side. If her hiney is facing me, I have to get my wrist at a really odd angle to wipe her properly.?

Yeah I could see that! Keep the real life experiences coming!!

  • For me, it's that DD rolls side to side and with the change table she can only roll to the wall or up against me- so not going anywhere. Trust me- you'll be changing diapers in your sleep, sideways, up-side down and one-handed.

  • It didn't feel weird at all to me.  I never even thought about that.

true, by the time my youngest came I could change his diaper while he was sitting on my lap.

  • I always thought that I would want DS facing me as well, but once you do it a few times when they are perpendicular to your body then diaper changes are so much faster. Its much easier to lift the feet and wipe and get the diaper under there when lifting to the side then lifting forward. Arms naturally go side to side not front to back.

  • It feels natural to me, too, and I love the changing table.  We also have ours so you could stand at the end if you wanted to.
