we have names picked out but how did you decide which baby was which?
FWIW i think we may have DD choose. she's trying to name them but with the oh-so masculine names she's picked out (Heart and Lollipop) we've put our collective foot down on this one

Cut the Crap - Weight loss journey of a Few Fat Chicks
I wanted to name them after they were born so I could name them what I thought they looked like. Then when they were born I thought "crap, they just look like babies-- not a particular name..." we had a list of a few names we liked and assigned them based on what the names meant and how they acted in utero and right after birth.
ETA: your DD is so cute with those names!
We are naming one after my Husband and one after my Dad. We orginally were gonna do Baby A Husband Baby B Dad but decided we wanted to see them. In case Baby A looks just like me then he should be named after my Dad and if Baby B look like husband he should be named after him.
since Grayson & Gibson didn't really seem too different to us - ie) didn't feel that one baby would look more like one name vs. the other - we always knew baby A would be Grayson and B would be Gibson - simply b/c of the A and B in their names (3rd letter).... that's just how we picked... but we never called them by name in the belly- not until they were out -- -though we did request the OB tell us if for any reason B came out first- b/c we had already named them.
when we had Griffin our other choice was "Drake" - so we waited to see him to decide which he looked like... red head? that'll be Griffin But with Gibson and Grayson = so similar we didn't care.
At first we were going to have Aiden be Baby A and Roman Baby B, just do alphabetical...but then we decided we'd wait till we saw them.
Well...with the boys rushed to the NICU and when Scott followed them the nurse asked him "so, who's who..." he panicked and went with, Baby A - Aiden, B- Roman. It seemed to work out b/c I think they seem to fit their names.
ooh Heart and Lollipop, I bet she came up w/awesome middle names to go with them!
I think Heart and Lollipop are great names! My nephew wanted to name his little sibling Chili or Sandwich (I forget which was the girl name and which was the boy name).
We named our boys based on in-utero personalities.
well, if i was going to name them after their personalities i'd name them "jerk" and "instigator" ;P i'm convinced the instigator is making the other one kick the crap out of me.
my thing is that i don't think i'll know which comes out first so how would i know which to name which, you know?
i can't believe this is what i'm worried about. oy!
thanks for putting up with me on this one.
We decided on Lydia first (it took us a lot longer to find a second name we liked), so we just decided whoever comes out first gets that name.
Although part of me has considered giving Baby A the Abigail name just out of convenience. A = Abigail, seems easy enough to me!
Don't feel bad; I think it's a valid question.
But why would you not know which came out first?
At 16 weeks we found our Baby A was a girl but Baby B wouldn't cooperate. I knew if I had a girl we wanted to names her Fiona (my 1st name choice) so I started called Baby A Fiona. At 20 weeks we found our B was also a girl. DH got to pick out her name from our list and chose Caitlin.
We called them by their names (in private since we didn't tell anyone their names until they were born) and decided when they were born if they didn't "look like their name" we would switch! They SO fit their names when they were born, it felt like to was meant to be. Fiona is our very fair blond and her name means "the fair one" and Caitlin is a brunette with more olive skin so it couldn't have worked out better.
