yeah I totally felt this way and to be honest you really dont know what you need or will use a lot of until after baby comes. I will say that the swaddles were AWESOME!! And we love our pack and play and also swing. I made sure I had the "big items" and then the little things can be filled in later.
There is no way that I could have sorted through all the choices without Baby Bargains. I have no idea which edition they are on at this point but it was the best $12 that I spent!

This!
Me too.
We didn't buy all "A" stuff but it helped bring to light things to look for and be aware of. For instance, we were all set on a crib at Target and then I read BB, it was a crib manufactured by a company with a large number of recalls.
To answer your question, I think I got it at Borders with one of their 40% off coupons for ~$9.
If you have friends around you with it, see if you can borrow a copy (I'd have gone the library route, but I am horrible about returning things and I'd have paid way too many late fees for all the use we're getting out of that thing!).
Also, take a mom with a baby 3-6 months with you when you go. The friend who went with us was the source of soooooo much good information that she said she never would have thought of if she weren't in the store with us.

Haha, it was my savior also!

Not that I can speak from experience yet but the book was great! It definitely helped me when searching for items to register for!
I borrowed a copy from the library!

Ditto on the usefulness of Baby Bargains!
