I've been losing more hair in the shower lately - sort of similar to the amount I was losing when the post-partum hair loss kicked in. What's up with that? I might not have thought much of it (seems to me hair loss is cyclical - you lose more at times than others), but DH dug a bunch out of the drain (I mean the grate not the pipe) today and exclaimed at the amount. It was 2 days' worth. So, that got me thinking about it... I'm taking DHEA and read online that hair loss can be a side effect. I know there's a whole slew of other possible causes, such as thyroid disorders. But isn't it also normal to lose more hair for a while and then have it taper off for a while? Obviously if it keeps up or gets worse I'll look into it, but wanted to find out whether it can also just be a normal occurrence. As I said, I hadn't even noticed it myself yet - I'd seen the hair in the drain but it didn't alarm me until DH made a comment. Thanks.
Re: Losing more hair in shower?
Our beautiful son was born July 2008.
2010: 2 IVF's,1 FET = 2 BFN's, 1 c/p
Feb 2011-Unmedicated FET= BFP!! DS #2 born Oct 2011!!.
beebe - yes, i'm still nursing but there hasn't been a significant drop-off lately (it's been very little for a loooong time now). happy - could be stress-related, although i haven't been aware of the stress. not that everything's perfect - far from it, but not super-stressed. Neither of my recent IUIs were medicated, so that wasn't it.
You know, it's only been 1-2 days. I'm not sure I can't even compare it yet to my pp hair loss. Too soon to say. It could very well be a temporary shed, or even a side effect of the DHEA I'm taking.
LO #1 - 1 unmedicated/self-monitored IUI w/ donor sperm.
LO #2 - 1 m/c, 2 BFNs, 4th IUI worked (unmedicated/self-monitored with new donor sperm).
Life is beautiful!
