I read about all of your babies cuddling with you and it makes me sad because Alana has never once cuddled. She won't sit still on my lap, constantly squirming to reach something or get down to play, except to drink a bottle. As soon as she doesn't want anymore bottle, she wants down. We can't bring her into bed as she's all over the place. She would NEVER calm down and fall asleep in bed with us. She wouldn't lay still to allow it to happen. She never really "settles" down until she actually goes to sleep and I can probably count on one hand the number of times she's actually fallen asleep in my arms. She has never just crawled into my lap, put her head on my shoulder, and fallen asleep.
I'm not worried about it as she has no problem being held or touched. She's just a really independent baby (has been forever) and wants to be free to move. Honestly, I love that about her and wouldn't switch my independent player for a baby who needs to be attached to me all day, but, this mama wants some love! Any chance she'll become a toddler who runs to me for a big hug and some cuddle time?
Re: Anybody have an un-cuddly baby that became a cuddly toddler?

DD has always loved to be held, but she has become increasingly more cuddly as she's gotten older. She gives hugs and kisses constantly and will now bring over a book to DH or I and say "up" meaning she wants to sit on our lap and read. I love it! I don't even mind reading the same book 10 times
And sometimes when we put her to bed she needs a few extra cuddles before she'll fall asleep. I don't mind, since I know there will come a time when she no longer needs her mommy cuddles!
We still can't lay down in our bed and cuddle because she'll just want to climb all over us and the dog... I am jealous of people who can bring their LO into bed and get a little more sleep. There would be no sleep for us if we did that.

Jacob was not a cuddly baby. He never could calm down enough to sleep with us in bed. He would never fall asleep in my arms.
Now I would call him super cuddly, but he will sit in my lap and read a lot of books. And he loves to give hugs and kisses. So so so cute!
Gray was not a cuddly baby - and now he's the baby who comes and snuggles with me- puts his head on my shoulder and hugs me... Gibby was a snuggly baby- and now doesn't like to hug/cuddle- but does like to sit on my lap...so you never know.
This is us. DD never cuddles....she'll give quick hugs on occasion or fall asleep if she's tired (bedtime, bottle, rocking) but even that she hasn't done in a while. She's been like this since she was old enough to move on her own. I'm hoping she becomes more cuddly....she won't even sit still for a book in my lap.
Garrison is an interesting one because with us, she was very much like your child. Sitting on our laps, much less cuddling was not something she was interested in-- but she has been hugging other kids since she was like 8 months old. She is a SERIOUS hugger (DH and I are not-- so it is a total mystery) but now- as of the last 6 weeks or so, she often wants me to hold her and will walk over to me sit in my lap, etc. It's nice to know she is independent but likes me too ; )
Hope yours gets there too!
