Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Have you ever brought your toddler with you to get your hair cut?

I really want to get a hair cut this afternoon, but in order to do it, I'd have to have DS with me.  He's a really good boy and I bring him to most of my prenatal appointments with no problems.  I'm just a little worried that the hair place will get annoyed with having a stroller in the hair cutting area.  I'd bring the small umbrella stroller and let him have his snack while they cut my hair, but still.  Do you think this would be a problem?  I might just ask them when I call to make an appointment.

  • I think it would be ok for the salon.  My LO would never sit still for it, though.  I really can't even imagine, lol.

  • At this age DS would never sit through my haircuts. I did take him with me while I got a pedicure once, but that was when he was a few months old and I had him in the carseat and he just slept :)

  • I've taken Avery with me before and he was very good. I brought the stroller and snacks and toys and he was very good except for the last 5 minutes or so when he got restless

  • I take DD all the time, since she was really little.  I like to go during the week, and DH works, so I have to take her with me.  When she was younger, she was unbearably shy, so I had to hold her the whole time...not fun.  Now she plays with the toys there or stands near me.  Last time I went, I was at a new place cuz we moved, and DD was a little shy at first.  Then she emptied the contents of my purse, and she was perfectly content.  :)  It was mess to clean up, but she was happy and quiet and behaved!

  • I'm sure it would depend on the kid as well as the stroller. With my boys, it would be a disaster, but if your LO does well at your drs appts it might be worth a try. Some salons (like the one we take our boys to) do both adult and child haircuts but are kid-friendly; this one has toys and kids' DVDs so that would help.

  • I don't think my DD would sit through it but if yours would then do it! I'm sure you're not the first woman to do it.

My problem would be that I would want to focus on what the hairstylist is doing and I want to make sure I get what I want. If I brought DD I would be too distracted, myself.

  • No way.  He would never sit still.  And I usually get colour done when I get my haircuts so I'm there for a couple of hours.

  • I dont think they would mind. People love babies. And if he just sits there in his stroller then I dont see how it would be a problem. If he was running around screaming and playing with things then maybe that would be a problem.

  • I can say that my roots are pretty bad currenty because I haven't had a moment where I could get my hair highlighted without my DD. No way would I bring her!

But, you are looking to get a haircut... why not!

  • Definitely ask first.  My salon has a strict no children policy, mostly due to the area being pretty unsafe for children (sharp objects + slippery floors + toddlers = lawsuit), but this may not be the case at yours.
