What are some of your favorite items to buy? My DH is losing his job next week so my dad has graciously offered to take me to Costco tomorrow to stock up on some groceries. I've never done actual grocery shopping there (just random things I've needed here and there, and diapers and wipes) so I curious as to what you buy for your family at the bulk stores. TIA.
Re: To the Costco/Sam's Club/BJ's shoppers...
Sorry to hear about DH's job.
Milk is much cheaper there for us, we buy meat like chicken and hamburger and freeze it. We get good prices on chips too. Diapers, wipes. Shampoo and cond sometimes. Asprin, body wash, deoderant.
We mostly buy Chicken sausage, ground turkey meat, toilet paper, paper towels (although I am thinking about going cloth and not buying any more paper towels), peanut butter, cereal, some fruit, bell peppers, peanut butter, and some spices there, and sometimes milk.
I am sorry your husband is losing his job,
Diapers, wipes, lunch meat, laundry detergent, cheese, raw tortillas (we use them for tacos and burritos, turkey roll ups, and even with pbj or nutella for breakfast), gummie vitamins for DS, tampons, gogurt.
oh boy, we buy a lot of stuff!
fresh: spinach, broccoli, carrots, mini bell peppers, sweet onions, organic apples, seasonal stufff (like strawberries now..butternut squash soon), cottage cheese, bread/bagels/sandwich thins (you can freeze all this). i dont buy milk there but you can buy that and freeze it, too - same with cream cheese. oh, and pre-cooked bacon. sometimes lunch meat if my DH is in a sandwich mode. oh! and bananas. and yet we always run out.
frozen: chicken, wild salmon, wild fish, strawberries, mixed berries, mixed fruit, mixed veggies, veggie burgers, shrimp, ground turkey
canned: tuna, tomato sauce, chili (for my DH)
spices/etc: black pepper, sea salt, salt free seasoning, ketchup, mustard, coffee
snack foods: peanuts, freeze dried fruit (for babies), 100 cal packs of cookies, oatmeal (they have lots of other cereals, too)
other: shampoo, conditioner, laundry detergent, paper towels, toilet paper, gummy fish oil, melatonin, diapers, wipes, gas.
Bottled water, toilet paper, paper towels, dishwasher packs, Veggie Straws, butter/margarine, sour cream, chicken breasts, rotisserie chicken, and whatever else I see that looks good.
ETA: Oh and Clorox wipes...I go through those things like crazy!!!
