Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Favorite Toys at ~12 months old?

I'm sure you ladies have this question asked all the time but I didn't see anything on the two most recent pages..

DD will be one in December and we have a few 1st birthday parties to attend in the next couple of months. What is/was your LO's favorite toys around 12-18 months? I'd love to wow with the gifts :)

TIA!

  • Books with pictures of animals and babies.  Not that exciting...no bells and whistles but DD loves books.

  • My LO is 1 today, and he is super super active. So he loves anything that can help him move around... he walks now, but still loves to push his walker, Little Tikes car or this big foam cube thing at daycare, and to "drive" his cars (or the remote, whatever!). We got him a push 'n' ride thing for his birthday, and I also asked the grandparents to get him a shopping cart.

He really doesn't sit still and play with toys very much. I did get him the FP farm, which we are giving him tonight, but I'm not sure how much he'll use it yet.

  • My daughter will be 2 in December, so I can tell you what my daughter really enjoyed at 12 mo - now.  My husband and I got her a "grow with me" Fisher Price kitchen (it is small which is nice and starts at a shorter level for toddlers and can get "taller" as they grow) for her first birthday.  She loves the kitchen and has played with it every day since we gave it to her.  She also loved the push type toys as someone else mentioned.  A Radio Flyer push wagon was the most sturdy to not roll out from under her as she was learning to walk.  She also loves the Tolo roll shape sorter but could only use it around 18 months (nicely made and keeps her occupied) -- that would be a good gift to give to others ( I think it is around $20 - 25).  Starter/simple puzzles are good also.  Oh, one other smaller gift idea is a pound-a-ball toy.  Hope that helps!
