Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

This has been worrying me....Did your LO's slow wayyy down in the growth department?

DD was always in the 90-95th percentile for height and weight as a baby. She was always a size of clothing ahead of her age. As she approached turning one, she slowed wayyy down. She is about to be 15 mos. and still wears her 12 mo. clothes. All the 18 mo. stuff I thought she'd need she is swimming in. Is this normal? I know they gain less because they are so active, but I was always used to her being so big for her age and now she seems small for her age.

  • DD did this too.  Our pedi said that as long as she is still eating ok and gaining at her own rate not to worry.  DD is almost 14 months & still wears mostly 9 month clothes.

  • DS went from 95% for weight at 6 months, to 50% at 12 months, so yes, we slowed wayyyy down.  And then he got sick, and lost 1.5 lbs.  I have 18 month stuff that he's swimming in as well.  My pedi isn't concerned in the least, she said she fully expected him to do this.

I just get so paranoid about everything...LOL. She eats really well and is really active. I just am anxious for her appt. on Nov. 5 so he can tell me it's fine :) DH's family is super tall, he and his sister are over 6 ft. My family is small (my sis is 4'9"). I guess I assumed she's take after his side, but maybe she is just gonna be a shorty like me :)

  • We were always around the 75% for height and weight but her weight has slowed.  Her 9 month it went to 50th, her 12 month it went down to 37%....height was 96%.

First 6 months she gained 10lbs, 2nd 6 months she has gained 3lbs.

  • We slowed down alot but she is still on her curve pretty much. DD is in 25-50% for weight and gained less than a pound between 15 & 18 month appt. Pedi was not concerned.

  • DD has been pretty steady in her percentages, but she's always been tiny. I just noticed this morning when I put a regularly-worn onesie on her that it's a 9-month size! Pedi isn't concerned, she eats fine and is healthy.

  • I wouldn't worry...I've got an almost 19 month old that can still wear a lot of her 12 month clothes.  She is growing right on the same curve she has been for height & weight since birth and her pedi isn't concerned.
