Do you use a white noise machine for baby?

If so, could you recommend yours/where did you get it??? Ds is a light sleeper! I have been using a fan since he was an infant, but I don't think the noise is strong enough...

DH wakes up super early for work and it wakes DS up pretty often...I need something to drown out the noise! TIA!

  • We use the Homedics one. We got it at Bergner's. We love it. It plays a few different noises and songs. Also does pictures on the ceiling if you want

  • We used an air conditioner in the summer - set on fan most of the time. And now we have a little fan that is pretty loud when set on high. We live in the city and constantly have dogs barking and car doors slamming. Plus our house creaks whenever you walk. Can you try a different fan? Oh and her humidifier is pretty loud. I think we used that most of last winter. It's the Red Cross cool mist they sold at Target last year.
  • homedics lullaby sound spa...the best! We don't use the projector but do use it on rain setting all night long.

  • Yes, we use the Womb Bear and it's sold at most places or I'm sure you could find it on Amazon.

  • We use a humidifier in her room at night and for naps. It is pretty loud and blocks out everything else.
  • We use the homedics one as well.  I usually use the heartbeat sound and occasionally the lullabye music for naps.  My dd falls asleep to it every night.

Yes, we have forever, use it overnight all night and for naps.  We have the homedics sound spa lullabye machine from bed, bath and beyond and it has a projector that you can turn on as well.

Yep, us too. They still carry it there, but you can also get it at Target for $20 now. I love this thing so much that its always in my gift to friends at baby showers!

  • I was playing children's lullabye cds and classical music cds all night but then the cd player broke so I found an old alarm clock and just play a radio station I like (since I listen to it over the monitor all night long)! He doesn't seem to care what the white noise as long as there is some. He doesn't sleep as well when we don't use it. I'm on the hunt for a new cd player/clock radio with a repeat function!

  • We just use a small portable fan as his white noise. In addition, we have Graco sound machine that plays nursery music all night.

  • We've used several...the womb sounds bear and sleep sheep.  The sleep sheep plays more realistic sounds...but only plays for 45 minutes max.  This is great for on the go.

We tried the dex and Graco.  Both these machine play sounds on a loop...it's not a real sound...and you hear the end of the loop(sort of like a clicking sound). I read a lot of stuff online and the gist of it is that you want your white noise to be continuous...not a loop because the loop actually disrupts sleep even if it doesn't wake you up.

At my wits end I posted here and a bumpie recommended the marpac sleepmate.  I don't even remember who it was because it was about a year ago or longer...but I owe her a big "Thank you".  It's the best machine we've used.  It has a little fan inside which creates real noise...not a recorded noise played on a loop.
