wagon - good gift for 1 or 2y/o?

My mom is talking about buying Eliza this Fold N Go wagon as a combi birthday/bday gift. I love the wagon, I am just not sure if it is a good gift for a 1yr old or if we would get more use out of it next yr for her 2nd bday?

Thoughts?

Also, if you have this wagon, I would love your review!

  • I think a wagon is a great gift for a 1 year old.  By 2 they know how to climb out!  Surprise  At least for a while you could use it with just the seatbelt and have fun riding around.

However, I'm not sure about that wagon?  Have you seen it in person?  It doesn't look very sturdy to me.  DS will climb over the sides to get in and out.. looks like that would collapse if he did that.  We have the Radio Flyer and it's great.

  • We also have the Radio Flyer Pathfinder. We got it for N for her first birthday. She still prefers to walk more than ride but she does enjoy it sometimes. For her second birthday, we got her a trike.

I have been seeing it everywhere lately - the fair, the pumpkin patch etc...and the parents have raved about it. It is sturdy - the canvas just covers a hard surface. Maybe it is better for older kids and the Radio Flyer would be good for a toddler?

  • Not sure about the wagon you posted. We bought H the Radio Flyer Pathfinder for his 1st birthday and we use it a TON. Mostly just for walks around the neighborhood so far. The one thing I would be concerned about at one year is being able to strap your LO into the wagon...does the one you posted have a buckle? Henry doesn't yet realize when he should/shouldn't be trying to stand up and if he weren't strapped in I'd be afraid he'd fall out.
  • We just got Toodle (16 months) a wagon for easier in/out at the zoo, pumpkin patch, etc. and he LOVES it. I'd say go for it! We also have a radio flyer.

Good point! I don't know and it does not say anywhere in the descriptions.

  • We have the step2.  Mark got it for his first bday.  He loves it, I wish we had gotten the one with the canopy though.  I think it's a great 1st bday gift.

  • Hm...honestly, that seems like a gift that would be more suited for you as the parent than for her.  Kind of like giving a stroller as a gift, you know?  Unless I'm missing something, it appears to be a functional wagon for her to ride in.

Cal got a "walker" wagon similar to this for his 1st bday and had/has lots of fun pushing it around and putting stuff in/taking it out.

  • A wagon is fine for a 1 year old but I am not too crazy about that wagon. We have the step 2 wagon and love it!
