Gryphon is actually a legit spelling for the lion/eagle beast.

I like Gryphon if it were spelled Griffin or Griffen, but I dislike Gryphon because it just has "dark" written all over it. And if you have a happy-go-lucky, sunshiny baby with a sweet disposition--it doesn't fit. Not IMHO, anyway.

Phoenix is another story for another day.

I definitely don't approve, especially matched up with Phoenix. That said, I had a student named Griffin and he was such a great kid that I give the name a bit more credit now. Surprisingly it somehow just worked on him so I guess there's hope.

I really don't know what people are thinking sometimes. It just makes me think they must be very immature.

Regardless of whether its spelled right or not, I just want to know how into Harry Potter this family is!!!!!  Phoenix was the bird and Gryphon well I'm 100% there with the Gryffindor comment!!
