Vaccination and Travelling

Hi guys

 

I had a quick question. Z is turning 1 in 2 weeks and My fil had a heart attack and We have to go to India soon. I called her pedi office to ask is it safe for her to travel and if she can get her vaccination before we go. The nurse said no because of state law and she has to get her MMR, chicken pox when she turns 1. Which is now my question I made her appoinment on her birthday and Me and her travel the next day. Will it will ok to travel the next day? I will ask her dr too but since you guys already had your lo's done I want to know will she will moody crying alot and embrass me in the plane?? I read so many after maths of the shots. Should I just wait till jan to get it done or would you ever get those vaccinations in another country?

I would get your LO vaccinated before traveling for your own peace of mind. You don't want her picking anything up while abroad.

It's hard to tell how LO will react to any shots. Some shots, DD just slept a lot afterwards, some shots (like chicken pox), she developed a low fever and was really cranky for 2-3 days.

Has youe LO ever had reaction to vacs before?  My DS never had much reaction after the next day to any vacs - so you should probably base your decision on that.

My gut instinct would be to get the MMR and put chicken pox off until you return.  It's a live virus and more likely to have side effects.  My kids all handle vax easily one at a time.  I would check maybe the state dept. website and see if there are other vax needed for travel to India.  DH travels all over the world and each country has specific requirements b/c of prevelance. GOod luck, sorry to hear about FIL.
