LO waking up super cranky!

My son has been waking up extremely cranky in the morning lately. Completely inconsolable for about 30 minutes, until he finally calms down, and then it's like he's a new kid and plays until we go to daycare.

I can't tell if he's not rested enough, if he woke up too early (he always wakes up too early), if he is hungry, has a tummy ache or what. We've tried putting him to bed earlier, later, etc. and no luck. Not sure why he's been doing this lately..

Any ideas what's going on?

If DD wakes up super cranky it usually means she did not sleep enough and wasnt ready to get up. Usually a bottle and some rocking will get her to go back to sleep though. Is he teething maybe?

Either he woke up too early or he's hungry.  Casey just went thru this a few weeks ago and I think she was just hungry. So I tried to space out her dinner and snacks a little better.  She was getting a snack late afternoon so she wasn't really hungry for dinner then she would go to bed.  Now I try to either do an early dinner and then a small snack before bed.
