grunting all night long

My LO is 2 1/2 months, and he has always grunted a bit in his sleep - usually, it goes on for 1/2 hour to an hour prior to his waking up. Sometimes, it has gone on for a couple hours. But, just this past week, he has been grunting in his sleep all night long. Anyone else? Does it mean anything?

He also has reflux that has worsened in the past week...he's been really spitting up a lot more. Not sure if this is related. We do have a prescription for zantac, but I've been avoiding using it...maybe I'll start and see what happens.

Both of my kids grunted all the time in their sleep. it never seemed to bother them- as they were TOTALLY OUT when they were making noise- if anything it just bothered me and DH.

My LO is 5wks and grunts occassionally before & after he wakes up from naps. At night he grunts and moves his head back and forth. I thought at first he was just hungry or uncomfortable so I would pick him up. Now I think it might be normal. I would love to know what everyone else says...

DD grunts in her sleep too, but usually only if she falls asleep before I am able to get her to burp. Once she burps she usually stops the grunting.

DD grunts LOUDLY usually around 4am-11am, she also whines a bit and fusses a little while doing it and sometimes it is all night long. I asked the pedi and he said it her reflux and gave us a prescription. It has only been 2 days on it, but last night was better, if it is not a TON better by day 4 of meds we will take her off them again, but I hate to think it is her being in pain.

I was up last night from 330 until 9am with a loudly grunting baby. I always thought maybe she had reflux but pediatric said it was normal.

I took a "first weeks" class and the RN that taught the class said that it's very normal for a baby to grunt in her sleep.  She said that they are sleeping, but in a lighter sleep state than REM and not to wake them.  She actually recommended ear plugs if your LO slept in your room.

My LO only wakes up once a night to feed (at 4:30am) and she usually grunts for the first 30 minutes after I put her back down.  She will also occasionally grunt throughout the night.
