Anxiety during pregnancy?

Has anyone suffered with anxiety while pregnant? More specifically, has anyone used an SSRI (like Zoloft) during pregnancy?

I am currently taking zoloft and my ob/gyn seems to think this is ok, but the idea makes me nervous. I guess I'm just looking to hear that I am not the only one in this situation.

I did not personally but I know from a situation with a friend that there are conflicting thoughts on it so I can imagine how challenging this can be for you. I guess it also depends on what SSRI you are taking (zoloft or something else), many of which have different safety levels.

The question to ask yourself is whether or not the nervousness you have about taking the zoloft while pregnant is more or less difficult to deal with than the anxiety you suffer without the zoloft. I believe happy/healthy mom = happy/healthy kid in most cases so if you can find additional medical support that gets you comfortable continuing the meds and you can be curb your anxiety during your pregnancy, that's probably a good thing. I think there are specialists out there who can advise you on this.

    Hi there,

If your doctor ?ok?d? it, then you should be fine. But if you?re still really worried about it, you can try to only take it when you feel like you can?t handle it or try a couple of days without and see how you do.

I too was on anxiety medicine (Celexa), but stopped (of my own choice) when I discovered that I was pregnant. So, I know that doesn't really help to answer your question. I just thought that you might like to know that you?re not the only one dealing with the anxiety, because sometimes that in itself helps just a tiny bit.

No matter which route you decide on, I wish you the best and hope that the anxiety goes away so that you can enjoy your pregnancy!
