Formula feeders question about poop!

We are currently on soy but LO has some rabbit pellet poops occasionally and the rest of the time pretty thick and pasty. Our Pedi suggested switching to Nutramagen to help softened her bm's.  Soooo we have tryed this before but LO gets super cranky and cries all day. We are so confused now! Do we stay on soy and try something else to loosen her bm's or do we have to deal with a fussy unhappy baby? Anyone have suggestions or know of something else we could give her along with the soy?

    If the switch was all of a sudden I would ask the doc about mixing the two formulas until LO has an easier time having a poop! I used to have to water down formula for one of my other LO's

    My pedi had us give DD 1/2 tsp Milk of Magnesia in her bottle twice per day until it loosened up.  I'd say it took about a day or so, and he said that if they get hard at times, to try it here and there until her little system works it all out.
