Would it be weird to have 2 kids with their names ending in 'lyn'? I want the name Brecken and DH wants Bria as he thinks Brecken is too masculine but is willing to compromise and do Brecklyn Bria R....... We are fans of non traditional and youneek names so i know not many, if any, of you will like Brecklyn. So would it be weird to have Brecklyn and Jocelyn?? TIA!
Re: Two LO's ending in 'lyn'?
I'm going to try to be nice...but I'm sorry, Brecklyn is horrible.
The -lyn endings aren't what gets me...it's that Brecklyn sounds soooo made up, that it's just ridiculous.
I love Jocelyn, and another -lyn name with that wouldn't be bad. But Brecklyn is just bad bad bad. Sorry.
ETA: I just saw that you said you're fans of different and youneek names...so I guess if that's what you're going for, Brecklyn would take the cake. I just think it's a shame to go with Jocelyn, because Jocelyn is such a beautiful name that Brecklyn sounds totally off.
I don't think it would be weird at all.
PLEASE don't name your daughter Brecken or Brecklyn. YH is right---Brecken is WAY to masculine for a girl/woman. Brecklyn is just a hot mess of made-up nothing.
Bria is 100000x better than Brecken and Brecklyn.
How could you go so wrong after choosing a lovely, feminine, classic name like Jocelyn?
I totally agree.
Why not Brooklyn then? It's closer to Brecklyn.
I dont like Bria because I know people would call her Bree afterwhile and I hate it. Brooklyn is too common. My number one name choice was actually Laiken but DH will not warm up to it. I know no one likes Brecklyn and thats fine because its our daughter, I guess I just want to know if its weird to have two 'lyn' names. Only 10 days until due date and not having a name 100% set is getting sickening. Ugh.
I personally would love it if my name were Brecklyn rather then Angela. I just cant stand common names and I hated growing up with 3-4 Angela's in every one of my classes. I know this board favors Sophie Sophia Elizabeth Susan Kate Emma Olivia etc my point of my post was not to get opinions on the name itself but the fact of two names ending in 'lyn'.
Those two names totally don't go together. Jocelyn is so classic and lovely. Brecklyn sounds like what it is--a smash up of 2 names as a compromise. And paired with Bria is too much.
I'd stay away from two -lyn names anyway.
I don't like two names ending in -lyn.
If you like the 'Br' combo, what about:
Bronwyn
Brenna
Briar
Brighton
I totally feel you op, I am bored to death with all the Sophia's Emmas and Olivia's, totally over it
BUT... I really dislike Brecklyn. Sorry but it sounds like a phlegm cough to me, just being honest
Jocelyn is beautiful, classic and underused. I don't mind Breckin, though I don't think it pairs well with Jocelyn.
I know this isn't what you asked for, but some names you might like that are different and that imo go with Jocelyn
Bijou, Bianca, Blythe, Britain, Briar, Jacinda, January, Jordanna
Agreed.
My sister and I have rhyming names and we hate it (people used to think we were twins because of our names and how close we are in age). It doesn't feel original at all when there's tons of other names in the world.
I think the 2 lyn endings might get confusing for people.
This.

Agreed, sorry. I think like pp's mentioned, there are plenty of relatively unique names that are better and will be easier for your LO to live with.
I do think it is to matchy..........but the bigger thing is the name Brecklyn. Where did you get that name? You should reconsider that one.
Brooklyn or Brynlee are NMS at all, but are real names. How about Josephine? Do your daughter a favor and give her a real name.
