My good friend just named her newborn daughter Isla Marie. My friend is originally from Guam and her husband is from the UK, so they felt it fit. I've definitely been seeing it more and more.

I want to say that I read somewhere it jumped something like 300 spots from 2008-2009. I wouldn't say it is anywhere near the Maddie or Isabella popularity but it is growing. I do love the name though.
Popular enough that in 8 years most teachers will know how to pronounce it but not so popular that your child would be one of 4 other Isla's in her class.

This.
Definitely. I think its a beautiful name, and I think its getting popularity due to the actress, but I doubt you'll see several in the same class.
I think it's pretty and don't know of any Isla's. It is at 346 on SSAdmin now, and even though it might go up, I think it's still a safe and not-overly popular name. Good luck.
I know two IRL, but I know a few pg women who are talking about/considering the name now.
I heard on the radio that it was the "biggest jumper" of the year, for baby names. In other words, it's still way down the list, but it made the highest leap. It jumped a couple hundred spots. If that trend continues, it will be very popular. Will it? Hard to say....
Fom posts on here I would say quite popular. Everyone seems to love it.
I was going to say that from this board alone, I'd think it'd be pretty popular. That being said, I don't know anyone IRL that has used it or considered it.
I agree that in a few years it will be on the radar as a known name, but not SUPER popular. It's in the top 10 right now for "upper class" names and those tend to trickle into the public over time, at least according to Freakanomics. We actually decided officially that if we have a girl she will be Isla.

Perfect point!
Thanks to all!
