Night 1 of getting DD to fall asleep solo

Now before I get flamed I know DD is too young to CIO.

That being said I KNOW she can fall asleep by herself, in her crib.

I made sure she was drowsy and I put her in the crib gave her a kiss and turned on the seahorse.

So far she made a couple grunts but no fussing. If she cries I'll go in rocker her until she calms down, once she gets into a receptive sleepy state we'll try again.

  • Confession: I opened this up ready to flame.

    Embarrassed

Sounds like you conquered Night #1! Good luck with tomorrow! Smile

  • My DD is usually a bit drowsy when she lays down to sleep in her crib.  She doesn't cry - she just falls asleep or loses her paci and then totally wakes and makes grunting sounds to find it.  Then we help her out.  (I literally stand in the room still, just in case.)

Doesn't it feel good when it's successful??

BTW...the pedi said we needed to start doing that, so she wouldn't need to be rocked every time.

  • I "love" paci searching grunts. :) they would be more adorable if it wasn't 2:30 Am and I was exhausted. Contgrats on a successful first night, may it continue for you.
  • Good luck. It took me 2 weeks of rough nights to get DD to do this. I would rock her, put her down, when she cried I would repeat. She finally started staying in the crib and entertaining herself after 2 weeks of the routine. She still is up every 3 hours to feed but then will put herself back to sleep. It is a great thing!!!!
  • Since 3 weeks we always would put DD down drowsy and let her fall asleep on her own. She would turn her head back and forth, make some grunts, get comfy, and then fall asleep. We use a paci too instead of getting up to rock her if she starts to fuss. Did you ever use a paci?
