DD is FF only and I'm wondering when to move to level 2 nipples--we use Dr. Brown's bottles. I know it says they are for 3 month olds, but DD is a biiiiig baby (she is almost 12 weeks old and is about 14.5 lbs). At some feedings she takes 8 oz. I'm wondering if I should try the faster nipple?
Re: When to start using faster nipple?
I use two different bottles. (Don't ask why)
My LO seems to get severely agitated at the NUK brand infant nipples that are slow flow so I bought the medium flow infant nipples..THIS is still not fast enough for her liking...She absolutely loves the stage two soothie nipples that came in the starter set.
I say if your LO can handle the faster flow go up gradually until you find one that suits him. This is what I have done and it was just because I have an impatient baby.
I might get flamed for it but my LO is doing just fine and yours will too!
I don't believe that's it since most have something like 4 stages of nipples and the last stage is with cereal.
Just try out a faster nipple and see how it works. You'll figure it out fast.
Transition when it frustrates her to finish a bottle fast enough. I put my twins on a #2 nipple at 5 wks old and it still takes them each 40 minutes to finish a bottle. I'm not going to a #3 because it's super fast.
Go slow when you start it. Judging from your posts with her sleeping and eating the way she does she may very well be ready. Try it and let her decide which she likes better. Go slow the first time you try it.
