Birth Announcements

So does the world end if I don't send one? Do the baby gods smite me from the heavens? Pretty much anyone I care about lives in the same town as me except for my hubby's aunts and uncles and they all have facebooks that I will be posting pics to, etc...so what happens if I just don't do this?

I think you'll be a-ok.

I think we're going to send some as my whole family lives in the States and a lot of his family is out of town. They make sense for us but if everyone you know is close and has FB, I say forget about them. One less thing to do!

You'll be fine.  I have a lot of out of town family, and no one over the age of 25 is on facebook in my family.  So we can't go that route.  Otherwise I wouldn't send one.

Totally fine!! It's definately not a requirement. I'm planning on sending out announcements/christmas cards to hit double duty.

No one in my family sends them so I've never even received one. There's a spot for one in the memory book I bought for the baby so I'd like to get something in there. In the end, if you really don't want to spend money you could upload a picture and put a baby frame around it saying It's a Boy and pick them up at your local Walgreens. You can just print off 5 or something for immediate family and your memory book for less than $2.

My sister didn't send them. Most of the family lives in the same town so they were able to meet the baby in person. My nephew will be a year old next week and no one has been struck by lightening.  She did get locked in the basement yesterday, but I don't think that's related.
