DIY December Mommas-Help Needed

I need a little help! I am the least crafty/creative person ever, so I don't know where to find supplies. My husband is planning on making our LO a mobile for his crib (he's an artist and the creative one in the family). Do any of you know where I can find the stuff to make a mobile? We are ordering the little felt toys from a site, but need something to attach them to.

Thanks!!

Re: DIY December Mommas-Help Needed

  • Try a craft or dollar store. Embroidery hoops are great for mobiles. I'm sure you can find them at dollar stores, they're just the wooden circles that hold fabric that you embroider on. OR WalMart has a craft section and I know you can find them there...where the knitting and sewing stuff is. :)

  • Ditto the craft hoops. Somewhere like Michael's or JoAnn Fabrics has them. Use craft paint to make them whatever color you want, and attach the toys with colored wire or string.

  • Hobby Lobby is another store I hear a lot about from the other crafty gals I know. I've never been to one myself, but they have them in Colorado.

  • I'm almost done making the mobile for our little guy's room - it's super easy and cheap. I got an embroidery hoop for less than $2 and I got prepainted wooden figures (monkeys, trees, giraffes and turtles) from Micheal's for 3 for $1

  • Thanks, ladies!! Maybe I am dense, but what do you use to suspend the mobile above the crib?

  • this is the part that I still have to do, but I'm planning on using 4 pieces of ribbon (in equal distances around the hoop) and gathering it at the top to tie a bow. You can get some kind of screw/bolt from any hardware store to twist into the ceiling and hang the bow from the screw.
