I really like names that have an 'x' or 'x' ending. I love the name Alexander for our LO but Dh hates it (due to association) so that one's out. Any other suggestions?
We had also thought of Maximillian, (Max for short), but our last name is hard to spell & say, and this would also be a complicated first name. So we thought of Maximus which we like, but do you automatically think of Gladiator then?
(that was what our family said when we mentioned Maximus...)
Re: Boy names with 'x'
I like the names you have listed, and I'll be honest, Maximus is a strong name, but if both parents are behind it, it can work. Max is becoming a hot name...not necessarily popular, but well-liked, and people are looking for ways to lengthen it. There's a great post on Name Berry about it; I'll go dig it up.

What about Maxwell? I do automatically think "Gladiator" when I hear Maximus.
Xavier, Axel and Rex are the only others I can think of (that are spelled correctly and don't replace a "c" or a "k" with an "x").
Here's the famous Maximus thread our dear Eaglefoot started.

I like just Max, here are other "X" names
Axel, Dexter, Felix
Other names that I don't like, but fit the criteria:
Braxton, Bronx, Daxton, Jax/Jaxson, Knox, Lennox, Maddox, Maxson, Paxton, Rex, Xander, Xavi, Xyler.
braveangel - I'll have to read all of those posts later in the 'Maximus' thread - thanks for sharing!
interesting comments in there - I never thought it would be a name to 'live up to', or that some people would kind of be intimidated by it.. I just want a really strong sounding name.
My "non-x" names are:
Christoper
Nicolaus/Nicolas
But I'm just so afraid he'll end up being Chris or Nick to his friends & at school. I'm really not keen on nicknames, but Max is one I actually like...
Love the suggestion of Felix!
Nick names get discussed quite a bit around here, and the general consensus is that you have control over the name until the kid reaches a certain age and decides how he wants to be called. I think this is why names like Elizabeth and Catherine have been popular for so long...the nick names fit so many people.
Our daughter is Emmeline and that's how she's called. I'll call her E occasstionally, but most people look to us to set the standard, and that doesn't inlcude any nick names. She may change her mind someday.
