Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Baby has RSV :(

My poor little guy has RSV.. yesterday he seemed kind of congested and coughed a few times, but that was it.. then last night was awful. I literally slept on the hard floor next to his crib because I was so worried about him and his coughing/breathing.. He hasnt wanted to eat as much and even had two exorcist-style spit ups. Doc told me it'll just have to run its course as it's a virus, and gave us liquid albuterol for his wheezing. Sigh. I know getting sick had to happen at some point, I was just hoping we'd wait a while longer. My poor guy :(

  • I also stopped and bought a cool mist humidifier for his room.. and normally I'd be happy when he took long naps but I'm nervous about him not eating so I've been waking him up every 3 hrs. He has kept everything down so far :: fingers crossed::

  • just watch cause my first LO had it at 8 months and was in the hospital for 2 days.
  • sorry to hear, hope he gets better soon.  Please keep a close eye on this which can be very harmful.  My DS#1 had an early case of it and had to get the synagis shot during the winter.

  • Lurker here... I'm so sorry your LO has RSV.  My DS had it at 4 months and was in the hospital because he needed to be on O2 for 3 days.  I'm sure you already know but use the saline drops and suction out LO nose.  We also spent a lot of time in the bathroom with the shower turned on breathing in the steam.  If you are EBF try bottles with different flow nipples or even a dropper if your LO seems to have trouble nursing.  I hope your LO gets better really soon.
  • :(  Sorry to hear your LO is sick!  I know how worried I'd be, and I'm sure we'll be in those shoes soon enough...  hang in there!
