Christmas Present: Big Girl Bed?

DD is really lucky to have very generous grandparents and extended family.  I'm making her Christmas list gift ideas for the family members that ask (mostly our parents) and I have 2 things.  The standard books, puzzles and PJ's are always the go to gift from extended family (which we love). 

So, do you think it would be awful to make DD's *big* Christmas gift from Santa her big girl bed? 

I feel like she won't fully understand Christmas this year (I mean she'll get "yeah presents", but not the overall idea).  We would still get her things to open and other items, plus the tons of gifts our OOT family will send.

Not a bad idea at all. Maybe get her some special sheets for it that she'll like....Dora, flowers, cars, whatever she's into 

DS got a carseat for his first birthday, so take my advice with a grain of salt

Definitely a good gift.  At this age, you really dont need to buy them much or spend much money because they dont know any better.  If you want to get her a bed for her present, I think that's great!
