Boiling tap water?

We have always used tap water for DD's bottles, and have never boiled the water.  The water in our area is considered pretty good, so I never thought about it.  DD will be starting daycare in two weeks (boo!) and the daycare lady asked about whether we use bottled water or boiled tap water.  I know my mom used to do this for me when I was a baby, but I didn't know people still did it.  What do you do??

  • I just can't imagine using tap water...that's just me.  If I didn't have a choice I would definitely boil it.

  • We use bottled water because we have a well and unfortunatley we are out of water right now (It's raining today thank goodness!) I would just get our well water tested first, but I know plenty of babies that have been raised on well water.

Side note : Oh my gosh! Another Scarlett!!

  • We boil our water, even thoe in it is more strictly regulated then bottle water here. Side note, what if there is a contaminant in the water and you give LO that water before the advisory. We can handle the side effects but their immuns can't.  I was told by the nurses and the pedi to boil it.

We don't boil our tap water either - our pedi told us it was unnecessary! The only tap water that should be boiled in well water.

    This is exactly our situation.

  • i buy my water, we buy the water we drink so we buy his - gerber pure water and he loves it! haha
  • Never. Our child does not have any compromised immunity and we do not have well water. Just FYI, but this country has some of the safest (non-well) water around so no need if your child is otherwise healthy (water safety info should be available from your county/state if you need to confirm safety). I'm not condemning others, but we are those people who never buy bottled water so just presenting that side.
