How do you keep LO warm?

With the cold weather coming, I was wondering what you do to keep your LO warm.  Do you dress them in layers?  I know blankets aren't supposed to be used, but I almost feel bad putting her in the crib without anything to keep her warm.  Any suggestions?

Re: How do you keep LO warm?

  • It's already cold at night here, so I've started putting my DS in a long-sleeved and footed onesie, then, since we swaddle still, his miracle blanket all swaddled. Most nights, that is enough. If not, I'll add a hat. When it gets really, really cold, I'll prob. switch to his fleece long-sleeved footed onesies and the swaddle blanket and a hat (that is if we keep the house at 69) but I get cold easily so he prob. won't be that bundled and we'll keep the house at 72 or so. You could try the fleece sleep sacks and a long-sleeved onesie as well if you don't swaddle...

    Hope that helps!

  • Footed sleeper and swaddle. If I didn't swaddle I'd use a sleep sack instead.

  • At the hospital they tucked the blanket into the sides of the mattress so DH and I have been doing that for DD in her bassinet.  It worried me at first, but she doesn't come undone.  We do that and she wears the wearable blanket/sleep sack.  I am not looking forward to the cold weather with DD... She's staying in the house unless absolutely necessary.
  • We keep our house btwn 65 and 70, also my DS is a little heater so he likes to be slighlty cool not warm, which they say is better for sids prevention.  We run a small fan, and he wears a long sleeve sleeper.  If its really cool i'll lightly swaddle him from the chest down, he hates to be swaddled.

  • at that age, my LO was still swaddled (we use Halo swaddles, either fleece or cotton depending on the weather) and layered under.  Now he sleeps in Halo Sleepsacks instead of loose blankets.  Definitely the safer way to go.  Plus LO can't kick it off during the night and get cold.
