Is anyone else on Pain Medication???

I am on a Fentenyl Patch....and I know that my baby could come out addicted to this drug. But without it I am bound to my bed and have 3 other kids to care for. Is anyone else on pain killers?? or had a previous pregnancy where you took pain killers? What was/is your experience???

Hi there. I was taking Dilaudid for my fibro and arthristis. I have been off it completely since i found out I was pregnant....Yes I have suffered, but for me it is ia good cause. This our 1st baby. I dont have experience, but wanted to let you know, there are other people out they like you. Good luck.Sunny

I too was on other pain meds I was on hydromorph and hydromorphcontin as well but went off them when I first found out I was pregnant. The patch is not as easy as the pills to get off of. I suffer SEVERE withdrawls even within a few short hours of not remembering to replace the patch. I shouldnt have ever went on this drug in the first place. I didnt know how addictive this is drug was until it was too late. Also me and pills are good *friends* was addicted to them for eight years. So I really like the idea of not feeling stoned like the pills do. Plus I cant take more then perscripted cuz  its in a patch form. I took pills with my last pregnancy and my DD was fine...just a lil too mellow she never cried but her apgar scores were great. So I hope that it will be the same for this one as well. All I can do now is just sit and wait til my DS is born to find out.

Before I found out I was pregnant I was on Dilaudid for RA and had to stop cold turkey. I am in soo much pain now and have 2 other kids to take care of. But I know I only have 6 wks or less left and im just suffering in silence. As for Mindy I Hope everything works out and you can maybe start to lower the dose as you go to avoid with drawal symptoms with the baby.
