Blogs

I am contemplating starting a blog to keep our extended family updated, and just for fun also.

I'm not a very private person regarding certain aspects I suppose I should be (Apparently you're not supposed to post your children's fn and mn, and birth date, etc.). Thus, I am a little concerned about posting pictures.

I'm fine with siggy pictures, but I get creeped out thinking someone could use the pictures I post to create a fake persona. I've seen on some blogs where if you try to click a picture (I'd assume to prevent stealers) a box pops up saying "This is our child's photo. NOT YOURS.

Does anyone know how to do this?

Re: Blogs

  • Google "disable right click" I know Blogger there is just something you copy and paste, it should give you directions on how to install it. I did it on our blog, plus I watermark my pictures, they can still get around the disabled right click, but it at least makes it harder on them.

  • I would love to know how to do that also.  But I know you can also make your blogs private and allow a certain 'list' of people to have access.  I just decided to start blogging also.  :)

  • That's not going to stop anyone who really wants your pictures. What you should do is watermark all your pictures. I don't do it personally, so I don't know how to tell you to do it, but I'm sure someone here can. :)

Ditto.  Removing the right click will stop some people but there are ways around it.

I watermark all of my pictures with the name of my blog address.  That way if someone steals it and uses it as is, there's a better chance of me finding out about it.  I simply type the name over the picture in Photoshop Elements.

  • I watermark all of mine as well - I just designed a watermark that I liked in Photoshop, and whack it over the top of any photo I'm going to upload (you can see it in the bottom right corner of my sig pic too). Obviously people can still crop it out, but I figure it will at least deter the lazy thieves lol.
