Measuring ahead?

I had a check-up today and the OB said I am measuring ahead - - she also said that she would not let me go past 41 weeks (12/14) which made me happy since 42 weeks is 12/24. Did anyone else measure ahead? Did it make any difference with your due date? (That's my stupid question for the day). :)

Re: Measuring ahead?

  • I measured ahead pretty much the entire pregnancy.  They never changed my due date, but I did end up having a really big baby.

  • I measured back and forth all the time.  One appt I was ahead and the next I would be right on schedule.  At my 36 week appt, I was measuring ahead.  10 days later I had K, a itty, bitty baby at 6lbs, 4oz.

Ditto.  And he came out at 36w gestation as a 38 week developmental baby.  And we knew the second he was conceived so it wasn't a mistake on due date calculation.

  • My friend who just had that adorable little girl I always post about on FB was told she was measuring ahead the whole pregnancy.  Also that due to the Dad's size (he's 6'6 and built) the baby would be large.  They did a c-section at 38 weeks thinking she'd be 9+ pounds... she was only 6 and a half!  :)  So I really wouldn't bank on being ahead your whole pregnancy or worry about having a huge baby.  You may, but you also might not.
  • all great information - thanks ladies! :)
  • Lil Miss measured slightly ahead, but they never changed my due date. She was 6 days past our due date.

I'm glad for you that you'll definitely get to go before the holidays.  I imagine that would be less stressful with family, planning, etc, etc.
