pumping?

sorry if this is a silly question, but i dont know anything about pumping! I am ebf and my son still eats every 2 hours around the clock. The only time i get a bigger stretch is if he is in the carseat running errands or something like that. How in the world can i ever pump to save milk for a sitter? Any advice would help a ton, thank you!

Re: pumping?

  • I pump right after our morning feed (between 6-7am). After a day or too my breasts know to make more milk, so I get 4-5oz each time. I say just pick a time that works well and pump. It's ok if LO eats right before or after, eventually your body will adjust.

  • Just pump for a few min after any feeds. Preferably morning ones. I usually don't pump for more than 10 min b/c I don't want to interfere with the milk for his next feed but if you can fit in lots of pumping sessions like this you will be able to build a stash.

This is how I started. Once your breast is empty & you are still stimulating it (aka pumping) it will send the signal to your body to start producing more. It should only take 1 or 2 days.
