I am just curious, why did you choose this? I am not judging, I will not flame you, I am literally just curious to hear what other parents do. We decided to vax our daughter, but I'm not sure I will give her every single one they recommend for the rest of her life, I might choose to eliminate a few along the way.
Re: if you are not vaccinating your kids at all...
Please vaccinate your kid. There is no reason not to. The autism, preservative worry is all BS. The only thing thing linked to the two is thimerisol, and you can ask for the thimerisol free vaccines. Not enough people do their research
iht
Now, for those people that choose to not vaccinate for other reasons that is your business, It just irks me when people say its because of the autism link, or because of the amount of preservatives. I vaccinate my child because of people not vaccinating theirs.
The only two I would not want her to have is the chicken pox one and the flu.
I had the chicken pox, and I dont believe it to be a problem - however, Im sure I will get it done so I dont have to fight the schools on it.
But I will not get her a flu shot no matter how much my Dr. insists! I have never had one!
THIS, I could not have said it better.
Just as another perspective on the chicken pox vaccine. I am a twice sufferer of Shingles and let me tell you... It was worse than horrible to cope through (the last time just a few months ago while 8 months pregnant...) The chicken pox as a child isn't a big deal but having the virus as a kid opens you up to shingles as an adult which the vaccine would prevent all together
I never had one until i got pregnant, but I will be getting them for DD. I'm a little nervous that we are due for another big flu outbreak - like 1918, and I want her to be protected. Now granted, if that did happen, the vaccine might not be available before the virus spreads, but I'm still getting her the flu shot when she is old enough.
And for chickenpox, well I remember having it, but I'm going to get her that vax so I don't have to watch her have it. Why should she suffer if she doesn't have to? And it will help to protect those children with immune systems who cannot have vaccines.
I decided not to vax for chicken pox with DD1 and then she had a horrible case of chicken pox at 14 months. Even the doctors said it was particularly nasty. She was miserable for over a week, the pox were in her vagina, her throat, and her ears. She was two little to understand what was going on and it broke my heart. She now has some scarring on her face from it even though she never scratched. With DD2 I am getting the vax I don't want to risk having another child come down with such a bad case at such a young age. Just my two cents. We vax on the dutch schedule which is delayed compared to the American, and we never do more than two vax at once. I didn't do rota-virus or hepatitis but she will probably get vaccinations for those when we plan more exotic trips.
